This category is accepting submissions of projects coded in Processing, Arduino, HTML, CSS or other common languages. Best Documentary
This category is accepting fact-based documentary submissions. Eligible submissions must have been created within the curriculum for an RTA course; they must have been created by students within the RTA School of Media; they must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 18, 2018. Nominees for this category will be judged on the quality of the content and the overall production value.
Best Audio Post-Production
This category is accepting audio submissions. Eligible submissions must have been created within the curriculum for any RTA class; they must have been created by a student within the RTA School of Media; they must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 18, 2018. Nominees for this category will be judged on the quality of the ADR, Foley, or SFX, and the overall production value.
Best Live Event
This category is accepting both live event planning and multi-camera coverage. Eligible submissions must have been created within the curriculum for any RTA class; they must have been created by a student within the RTA School of Media; they must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 18, 2018. Nominees for this category will be judged on the quality of their coverage (or in the absence of such, EPKs and Production Bibles (PDF format) can be submitted to illustrate the merits of the production.
Best Maker Project
This category is accepting any project that is DIY based. This includes using any available equipment such as the 3-D printers, laser cutters, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and any other new media specific equipment.All projects must have been created within the RTA curriculum. Projects must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 18, 2018. Nominees for this category will be judged on the artistic quality, and ingenuity of the project.
Best Experience Piece
Submissions for this category will be judged on the quality of an interactive based project created students in the RTA School of Media. Projects that can be submitted include OpenCV/Kinect, escape rooms, apps, or any other interactive piece. Projects must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 18, 2018.
The RTA Student’s Choice Award presented by FCAD
This category is accepting project submissions in any artistic medium. Eligible submissions must have been created beyond the RTA curriculum as an extracurricular activity, and cannot have been used for class credit; they must have been created by students within the RTA School of Media; they must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 18, 2018. Judges will narrow submissions down to five nominees for the RTA student body to vote on. Each student is entitled to one vote through their Ryerson email.

Nominees for this category will be judged on the overall quality of their practicum.
Best Practicum – Written
This category is accepting practicum submissions for Media Production. Eligible submissions must have been created for within the curriculum for RTA 703 or RTA 705; they must have been created by students in the RTA School of Media; they must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 15, 2018. Nominees for this category will be judged on the quality of their written work. The work being judged is not eligible for submission if it has already been produced.
Best Cinematography in a Practicum – Media Production
This category is accepting practicum submissions for Media Production. Eligible submissions must have been created for within the curriculum for RTA 701; they must have been created by students in the RTA School of Media; they must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 15, 2018. Nominees for this category will be judged on the quality of their cinematography. The work being judged must have been completed by a 4th year student currently enrolled in the RTA School of Media and not an external hire.
Best Storytelling in a Practicum – Sport Media
This category is accepting practicum submissions for Sport Media. Eligible submissions must have been created for within the curriculum for RTA 431; they must have been created by students in the RTA School of Media; they must have been created between March 21, 2017 and March 15, 2018. Nominees for this category will be judged on the quality of their storytelling within a given project. The work being judged must have been completed by a 4th year student currently enrolled in the RTA School of Media and not an external hire.
New Media Community Engagement Award
This category is accepting submissions for New Media students in the 3rd and 4th years of study. Ideal nominees are students who have made significant contributions to the various events, activities and programming in the New Media curricular and co-curricular space, and/or have created and introduced new programming or other activities in the New Media community within RTA. A brief description of the activity is required for submission, and can be supported by any relevant audio/visual elements available. Students can submit on behalf of themselves, or as a recommendation for another student.
